Your Next Steps as an Illinois Applicant Congratulations, you did it! Your college application is complete. Youve spent months, maybe even years, preparing for this moment. But what do you do now? Following are some steps to take as you await your admission decision. 1. Check myIllini. Once you submit your online application, youll be able to access your myIllini application status page. Double check this page to ensure you have completed all necessary steps related to your application. Once your application is complete, its a waiting game. If you applied during our early action filing period, youll be notified of your decision on Friday, December 13. Otherwise, youll be notified in early March. 2. Check your emails and stay in touch. If we need additional information from you, well notify you via email, so check your email regularly. Additionally, keep us updated of any changes to your self-reported academic record and test scores. If you realize you made a mistake in reporting your coursework or grades, dont worryâ€"you can update this information through the Course Change Form in myIllini. We understand that your senior year schedule may also change after you submit your application to Illinois. If this is the case, you can (and should!) let us know using the same form. If you take the ACT, SAT, IELTS, or TOEFL again after your application is submitted, you may update your test scores through the Test Score Change Form, also found in myIllini. In order for these scores to be considered in review, they must be reported before decisions are released. 3. Apply for financial aid and scholarships. If you havent done so already, I encourage you to complete your FAFSA as soon as possible. To ensure full consideration for financial aid awards, apply online by our recommended date of January 5, 2020 and no later than our preferential date of March 15, 2020. Dont forget to check out private scholarship opportunities as well. Our Office of Student Financial Aid has a list of places to look for additional scholarships. I also recommend checking with your high school counseling office to learn about scholarship opportunities in your community. 4. Come visit campus. Wed love to see you on campus soon for a visit! We offer visits Mondays through Fridays as well as some Saturdays. You can set up a visit online or you can call our Campus Visits line at 217-333-0824. 5. Stay focused and dont let senioritis kick in. Although senior year grades are not reviewed in our application for admission, that doesnt mean we dont care about them. If youre admitted and choose to enroll at Illinois, well ask you to have your high school transcripts sent to usâ€"we want to make sure that you finish senior year strong!
